What are porcelain veneers? What's different from porcelain crowns?
Porcelain Veneers (Porcelain Veneers) are the most advanced cosmetic tooth restoration method today. The doctor only needs to grind an ultra-thin layer of 0.3 - 0.5mm on the front enamel surface, then use specialized dental glue to firmly attach the delicate porcelain veneer on top. Unlike porcelain crowns, which have to be ground around the tooth crown from 1.0 - 2.0mm (at risk of damaging the pulp), porcelain veneers preserve up to 95% of real tooth tissue, without requiring root canal treatment or causing sensitivity.
In what cases should porcelain veneers be applied?
- Teeth that are severely discolored or yellow:Teeth are contaminated with Tetracycline antibiotics, have fluorosis or are discolored for years and tooth whitening methods are no longer effective.
- Sparse, slightly gapped teeth:The front teeth are short, butterfly-shaped teeth, or the space between teeth is uneven.
- Chipped or slightly cracked teeth:The tooth has a chipped biting edge due to trauma or impact but has not affected the tooth pulp structure.
- Short, irregular tooth shape:Teeth that are too small, have a rough enamel surface, or want to have a smile that meets the golden ratio.
